- To sell restricted products, sellers must meet specific approval rules—either at the category-level or product-level.
- Approval is not guaranteed; TikTok Shop may request additional documentation at any time during the listing process or while the product is live.
Sellers are responsible for ensuring their products comply with all applicable local, state, and Federal laws and TikTok Shop policies. Before listing, carefully review the Restricted Products help pages and consult external resources if needed — the examples provided are for guidance only and are not exhaustive. Even products listed as "permitted" must still meet all legal requirements.
TikTok Shop regularly reviews products and shops for compliance with platform policies. Violations may result in corrective actions, including, but not limited to, immediate suspension or termination of selling privileges, removing product listings, destruction of inventory without reimbursement, issuing refunds to customers temporary and/or permanent withholding of payments, and termination of the business relationship. Sellers who list non-compliant, illegal or otherwise unsafe products may also be exposed to civil and/or criminal liability under applicable law.
Additionally, sellers must:
- Accurately categorize and describe products in accordance with TikTok Shop's listing standards
- Avoid miscategorizing or deceptively describing products to circumvent restrictions
- Provide additional information or guarantees for certain restricted categories
- Comply with all applicable federal, state, and local laws in every jurisdiction where the seller sells or ships products.
Restricted Products
To sell restricted products, sellers must meet certain qualification requirements. There are 3 levels:- Category-Level Qualification: Sellers must submit documentation to sell within a category of products. After passing the process in the Qualification Center portal (located in Seller Center), sellers can list any products within that category. For more information on applying for Category-Level Qualification, refer to Your Guide to Category Qualification.
- Product-Level Qualification: Sellers must provide documentation for each product they want to sell within a particular category.
- Invite-Only Qualification: Select qualified sellers are invited to sell certain categories and can apply for access through the Qualification Center.
